Small Acts With Great Love

Donation protected
It has been amazing to see this fundraiser grow in a small, intimate community, initially not using social media at all. After some thoughtful consideration and still being so far away from our goal, we have decided to share this fundraiser publicly.

Put yourself in this position. Can you imagine a personal, financial or family crisis interrupting your academic experience, and the barriers that would compound the minute you stepped off that pathway? Returning to university is not as simple as stepping on an elevator that delivers you right back to the floor you were on with the push of a button.

The longer you wait to return, the more challenging it gets. Nevertheless, you keep fighting. Sure, you would probably be disheartened at times, maybe even question your priorities. But you keep jumping through the hoops, making the phone calls, trying to manage the finances, and doing everything you can to make your dream come true. This is the reality for a very dear friend of mine. And I am asking for your help.

Help my friend finish their degree. Two classes, an internship and five thousand dollars. That is what stands between them and their diploma.

After working to consolidate all of their student loan debt in order to return to university, the school suddenly unveiled an unpaid debt that seems to have slipped through the cracks. It’s not fair, it’s not right, and it may not even be legal. But it’s there and until it gets paid, they’re stuck.

This individual can’t register for classes or even access their official transcripts. New student loans cannot be applied to old debt. It’s hard to believe that that amount of money can be such a huge barrier, especially when this world desperately needs more compassionate and dedicated public servants.

One of the downfalls of crowdfunding, is that it can deprive individuals of dignity and privacy. So how do you help the people you love when you need your village to rally? You ask them to do a small act, with not only great love, but great trust.

I am reaching out to my community to ask them to make a donation to support an amazing person. Someone who is endlessly hopeful, self-aware, resilient, and genuine. A first-generation college attendee with a passion for social justice and serving vulnerable communities.

Help support this anonymous student finish their degree. I know most of us are looking for an opportunity to make a positive change in the world right now but with an ever-growing list of concerns, social injustices, systematic barriers, and the constant stream of social media, it can feel overwhelming!

This is one good thing you can do. It’s simple for us, but could mean the world of difference to one person. We know the positive impact that passionate, motivated, and cause-driven people can have on this world. We are seeing it now more than ever. Help elevate another individual to reach their full potential so that they can share their gift.

Thank You!
