A hope for Shir
Donation protected
My name is Shirley Danisa Polanco, I was born with Alagille Syndrome. This disease is barely known in Guatemala and considered rare. It affects all the organs in the body but primarily the liver. I am 26 years old, but it was until last year that my doctor said I needed to have a liver transplant to be able to survive and have quality of life. In Guatemala, this procedure does not exist. That is why I must travel to Argentina so I can have it there. It is going to be 4 of us traveling to Argentina for the living liver transplant procedure (the living liver donor, his caretaker, me, and my caretaker). We need to collect a total amount of $150,000.00, which will cover the procedure (since I do not have insurance), airplane tickets, and 5 months of living and medical expenses while we both are recovering from the liver transplant surgery. After we got the news a year ago, we started a few activities with the support of family and friends to try to raise money. But with the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been a bit harder to raise the necessary funds. It is important for my survival to get the liver transplant as soon as April 2021. That is why I opened this account to see if you could help me with any amount of money. We need to reach the amount of $100,000.00 (since we already have raised $50,000) to complete the total amount of $150,000.00 that I need for my liver transplant. Me and my family will be eternally grateful to you.
