Hello family & friends! Thank you for taking the time to read about our story.
Our story started back in 2014 when David had a ten minute long tonic clonic seizure while in the parking lot of our gym. We didn’t know it then, but that day, the MRI found an epidermoid cyst in his head that required removal asap. Since then, he has experienced tonic clonic seizures and constant pain. Medicine didn’t seem to stop the seizures as the cyst keeps growing and putting pressure on all the right places. On Tuesday, he will have his fifth cyst reduction to remove again as much as they can get. It has wrap itself around his brain stem making it extremely risky to attempt to remove the whole cyst. David also had a partial left temporal lobectomy to reduce the seizure activity which has helped. Needless to say with all of the trips to the hospital, the hotel stays, and everything that goes along with it, including time off of work for me, we are now in need of some financial support from you generous donors. David is a strong man who is now limited in the following areas: right side mobility & strength, processing, vision, and his ability to live as he used to. This journey has been extremely difficult for the family, but we are thankful that we have strong daughters, and supportive family & friends. Truly I say this, without their support and love, this would have been impossible. David is ready to start living again. He wants to be able to enjoy his children while he’s still can. We know that if this surgery is unsuccessful, the options to remove the cyst are limited. What’s different about this surgery is the surgeon will be placing a shunt in hopes that it will drain the cyst without complications. We invite you to share our story and to continue to pray for our family, doctors, nurses and the hospital staff that cares for David and all of his needs. The team at Houston Methodist has been nothing but amazing to us and everyone has been so friendly, comforting and patient. I ask again that you pray for this talented team.

Thank you, for being here with us following our journey. With love, The Chapman Family.
