Halina's NICU And Surgical Fund
Donation protected
My brother Donald and amazing sister in law Christine are soon to have their second child and I couldn't be more excited for them. Little Donny is going to make an amazing big brother to soon-to-be-born little Halina. Little Halina is already taking after her aunt and being stubborn in the womb flipping around and having fun at mom's internal expense. She is likely not the most comfortable herself however because she has been diagnosed with Gastroschisis. Here's what Christine recently posted on social media:
"To our friends and family that we have not yet been able to reach out to personally-
We have been struggling to find the words to explain our situation with baby 2.0 for months. We knew something was not right early on after multiple ER visits that we thought were miscarriages. In October we finally had a name for her condition, Gastroschisis. To put it simply, her insides are on the outside. Our induction date is just a few weeks away and that is when we will be able to answer how many surgeries she will require and how long her NICU stay will be. There are multiple complications that can arise and the very real possibility of her being still born. With this being said, we ask that you keep all of us in your thoughts and prayers over the next few months while we endure this very scary chapter with our daughter."
Yes send thoughts and prayers, but many of us know that NICU patient surgeries are approx. 50 times higher in cost than pediatric or adult surgeries and can max out insurance benefits quickly. My Brother has only been with his company a short time and it included another big state to state move for his little growing family so they are only very recently getting settled and catching up on bills. So this being said I believed it was a great idea for all of their friends and family to be able to show some monetary support. Kansas City from hometown Mokena/New Lenox, Illinois is a big trek. Please donate anything you can no amount is too small. I am hoping together we can help them take some of the stress away while they are chasing little two-y/o Donny around and at Halina's bedside in NICU.
P.S. The induction date is March 23rd! I cannot wait to meet this little one and will try to keep everyone updated with photos (and videos!)!
