Mum shaves head for son with DMD
I'm a mum of an amazing little boy boy named Austin who happens to have duchenne muscular dystrophy. Austin will be 2 years old in July. This disease causes Austin's muscle's to become weak and soon they will not function, including his heart and lungs. This disease is 100% fatal and effects 1 in 3500 children (boys and girls) He can barely walk and will no doubt be wheel chair bound at a young age. I as his mum feel I have to do something to help my little guy have a good quality of life but cannot fund this alone. I have swayed back and forth for many years about shaving my head and starting again. I'm organising a fun day to raise funds for the Eileen McCallum Trust. I thought what can I personally do for my son. So on the day of 3rd August 2016. At the fun day, In front of a crowd I Michelle McLaren will shave my head. This is to raise funds for Austin's Journey #helpfindacure. 50% of what I raise will also go to the Eileen McCallum Trust.
Thank you for getting to the end of our story. Lots of love Austin's Mummy xx
