Help Fran Recover from a Severe Head Injury
Donation protected
Many folks have generously donated to my Go Fund Me for Fran (whose situation is described below). For now, she's in no danger of losing her home BUT she is still suffering mightily from the effects of the head injuries she suffered when she fell down her concrete steps. She has lost much of the hearing in her left ear, she had frequent, severe headaches, and her balance is quite unsteady. And in spite of the fact that rest is prescribed for victims of concussions, Fran has to keep working because, as a self-employed worker, if she doesn't work, she doesn't make any money. So, further donations would be very helpful as there are days when Fran just can't get out of bed or doesn't feel that it's safe to drive to her jobs.
Hi, my name is Karen Meyers. I am setting up this Go Fund Me page to help my friend, Fran Miller. Over the years we have lived in Baltimore, Fran has painted, cleaned, and done odd jobs for us. She is a self-employed, single woman in her 50’s. She is a hard worker with a cheerful, positive attitude which she has maintained in spite of the many troubles she has had.
Here is a brief description of the run of bad luck Fran has suffered over the past 6 years or so.
In 2017, she had a series of health problems related to a bite from a Brown Recluse spider. She experienced headaches and joint pain and was hospitalized for a week during which time Baltimore County fined her thousands of dollars in response to complaints from a neighbor about her property.
In 2020, she had to have her leaking roof replaced at a cost of $15,000. And, of course, like many folks, she lost income during the pandemic.
In 2021, she was rear ended on I-95 by a young guy with no insurance. As a result of that accident, she had headaches, lower back pain, and severe shoulder and neck pain, Her car was totaled so she purchased a used car for $9000. Three months later she had to replace the transmission at a cost of $3000.
When Fran doesn’t work, she doesn’t get paid. So, as she recovered from these ailments, her bills piled up and she is now in danger of losing the house that she’s lived in and paid the mortgage on for the past 21 years.
Recently, Fran suffered an even worse setback: she missed a step and tumbled down her concrete front steps which resulted in her skull being fractured in 2 places and a concussion. She has lost the hearing in one ear and suffers headaches and dizziness. Since then, her basement flooded in a major storm, damaging many of the items stored there.
I would like to raise enough money to save Fran’s house and give her somewhat of a cushion as she recovers from this latest setback. Any amount you can give would be much appreciated.
Here’s how the funds would be used:
$ 9000 To cover her mortgage for the next 6 months to avoid foreclosure
$ 3000 To cover other living expenses until the end of this year while she recovers from the head injury.
$ 7000 To pay off credit card charges related to car and other expenses
$ 4500 To cover recent car repairs
$12,000 To pay off the cost of the roof
Total $35,500
