Pleated Mask Kits Evanston Stitchworks
Donation protected
Medical grade Surgical and N95 masks are in very short supply and healthcare workers nationwide are asking for the public to make reusable masks. Our original mission was to ensure medical grade masks were available to health care workers. Now that the CDC has recommended everyone wear a mask in public, we are changing the size of our kit to ensure more people have access to the masks they need every day in addition to helping reserve medical grade masks for those who most need them.
We are a small locally owned business in Evanston, IL. We are making enough kits to offer for free for anyone who wants or needs one. This is an ongoing fund. Contributions beyond the original funding goal will be applied toward making more kits available.
Each kit contains:
Enough Fabric to make 6 masks
One 1/2 yard of solid colored tightly woven 100% cotton fabric (color varies)
Enough elastic for the masks
Paper pattern for a mask that uses ties or elastic
Each Kit would cost $10 in a retail setting and makes 6 masks.
To date, we have received or fulfilled orders enough kits to make well over 3000 masks.
Your donation will fund the availability of free kits through our website. If you are wondering where completed masks can be sent, please visit our Facebook or Instagram pages for more information on our effort to help make masks available to anyone who needs them.
We are all in this together and with our access and networking, and your effort and interest, we can help those who are at greatest risk by ensuring that medical grade masks are reserved for those on the front lines of of the medical response. In addition, the CDC has recommended that EVERYONE wear a mask in public to help prevent the spread of Covid-19.
We've included some information about us and what inspired this initiative.
