Help Sunny heal!
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Leslie Epperson. I am asking for support for Mike Songeroth to pay for a farrier and a veterinarian to treat his horse, Sunny. A recent rescue, Sunny came to Mike with a pronounced limp on his right foreleg.
Mike adopted Sunny from a desperate situation. He had been penned for over ten years, never getting out, in a small cage at a stable near my house. His drinking tub held more algae than water, no one ever cleaned the manure, and Sunny's hooves had begun to grow long, curling, and splitting. Overgrown hooves are a very painful health risk for a horse.
A group of us got involved, wanting to get Sunny out of there, and one of our members contacted Karen Pomroy of Equine Voices Rescue and Sanctuary. Karen got hold of Pima County Detective Ted Noon, and he secured Sunny's release.
Karen asked Mike if he wanted a stallion. With lots of mares at Equine Voices, she could not take Sunny. Mike said, "Yes!" You can see from the photo how much Sunny loves Mike. Mike loves Sunny right back.
However, Mike is a veteran on a fixed income. So I offered to create this little fundraiser, as I know a lot of folks would be glad to help Sunny get healthy after what he has been through.
Let's pass the hat, give what you can, and help Sunny overcome his ordeal.
Right above is Sunny's "before" image. He was so miserable. Not anymore!
