Support Sharon's Battle Against Brain Cancer

Hello, my name is Lauren and I live in a suburb of Milwaukee, WI. This past March, my mom, Sharon was very unexpectedly diagnosed with a stage 4 terminal brain tumor (glioblastoma). Since then our lives have been turned upside down. Sharon had to have emergency brain surgery to remove as much of the tumor as possible. She went through radiation treatments and is still going through chemotherapy. Thankfully, with the help of her amazing doctors, physical therapists and occupational therapists, and support from our loving family and friends, she has been making progress physically and mentally.

My brother Peter and I are her main caregivers, and our Aunt Ann Elise has been a Godsend helping us navigate our way through this process. Thankfully Peter lives with our mom and I live just a few minutes away. We are a very close family, we would like to keep our mom at home as long as possible. My mom took the best care of us, throughout our lives. She also took care of my dad, Rich who suffered from Huntington's Disease until he passed away in 2015. They were married for 43 years. My mom worked for a large insurance company for 31 years. She has two granddaughters, Brynn 15 and Kaylin 12. Sharon actually retired when Brynn was a newborn. She was Brynn and Kaylin's main babysitter until they started school. Anyone who knows my mom, knows what a blessing she is to all of us. We now want to take the best care of Sharon and continue to take the best care of her as long as possible.

I'm reaching out today because we need financial help to pay for continued expenses like medical bills, medical supplies, the wheelchair ramp bill, wheelchair van transportation to and from appointments, as well as some in-home care. My mom is retired, and a widow for the past 9 years, so she only has one income. My brother, my husband and I help as much as we can financially. I am a Middle School Special Ed Teacher. When I go back to work in the fall we will need to pay for part-time in-home help.
