NAB for Standing Rock

Donation protected

A delegation of Native Students from Brown University  are traveling to join the Standing Rock Sioux Water Protectors in their efforts to stop the contruction of the Dakota Access Pipeline in Cannonball, North Dakota.

We are planning on traveling from Providence to ND from November 17th to the 24th. We are raising funds and resources to take to camp with us in the form of food and donations such as winter and camping gear.

THIS IS URGENT!
Every day the pipeline gets closer to the Missouri river, threatening to contaminate the water that has sustained our people for centuries.

#NoDAPL is one of the largest Indigenous movements within our lifetime. Especially in light of upcoming national elections we must acknowledge the shift in leadership in this country, and how this political shift will undoubtedly affect our relationship to the United States as sovereign people. We hope to be eyes and ears on the ground to witness this moment as an act of resistance to this settler-colonial state.

We understand that a delegation of college students may not turn the tide in this battle, but we feel a responsibility to do whatever we can to help our family, our friends, and our people be safe, free, and respected.

We are reaching out to you – our family, friends, and extended community members for support as we stand in solidarity with the Sioux Nation and Indigenous people from across the world.

Xusrigidisdhin', Chiqinik, Nia:wen, Ahéhee' Tʼáá íiyisíí ahéheeʼ, Quyana, and many more thanks from the Native community at Brown.

edit: Special thank you to Sierra Edd for making the poster and Lehidy-Laura Frias for taking the photo
