Nadine Ritchie
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Ken. I'm fundraising for Nadine's husband, Mac & 2 boys, Ishmael & McKoy. I've been coming to Treasure Beach, Jamaica for 0ver 10 years & have stayed at the same villa each time when available. I've known Nadine Ritchie since the 1st stay. She's known to me and to most everyone in this small village of Treasure Beach as an amazing, dedicated, hardworking lady loyal to a fault and whose top priority was her family. I arrived again this past Thur, March 2, 2023. Nadine came to the villa to do her cleaning and cooking for other guests in the villa. I was able to drive her home that evening after work so she could show me where she currently buys fruits and vegetables. The next morning, I received an email from the owner of the villa informing me she died suddenly at home in front of her son, McKoy. Mac (Husband) & Ishmeal weren't home. She got up that morning (Saturday, March 4th) and went to clean her church for Sunday service. She went home to start cooking breakfast for the family. Her best friend, Carlene, was there at the time and Nadine had a sudden and agonizing chest pain, then had, what was described as a seizure and died suddenly. It was ruled as a massive heart attack. I asked Mac to let me know what the funeral cost will be and that I'd do what I can to help with costs. Mac drives taxi & does odds & ends but Nadine's pay was the primary source of family income. Treasure Beach is a small community and tough to find additional work. Nadine's 50th birthday would be this Sun March 12. Please help me raise $500,000.00 Jamaican (about $5,400 Canadian + $600 Canadian for Gofundme, bank transfer and legal fees).
I'm not using or familiar with social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, etc. so, if any of you are willing, please post this Gofund.me with this fundraising link, https://gofund.me/a30cd0a4 to any of your social media platforms to help raise awareness for this cause.
UPDATE- MARCH 13th
I was honored and very privileged to be invited to attend Nadine's grave-digging ceremony that occurred yesterday, Sun March 12, & also Nadien's 50th Birthday. She will be buried at their home. So many friends and family members showed up. Over 100 people by a quick head count. Started around 11 a.m. and lasted till late evening, early morning. So many young and elderly men took turns digging the grave by hand as depicted by the new picture posted. I even jumped in 3-times to do my part. I'm sure not as energetic as the hardworking Jamaican men!!
I left around 10 p.m. and still around 100 people there. I'm going back today to see the progress and continue to offer support. Please help out the cause by adding this Gofundme link to any of your social media platforms to continue helping to raise the funds to pay for the funeral/ memorial costs. I'll be doing a Global transfer of the donations to Mac's brother soon as they need to pay the funeral home in order to proceed with the burial. My sincerest heartfelt thanks to all those who've donated so far and to all those who are so moved to donate as well.
May God bless you all, forever!
One Love
Ken Miller.
