NAFA NOURISHES NEPAL'S UNPARENTED

The Nepal Adoptive Families Association, a 501(c)(3) public charity is  proud and excited to announce NAFA NOURISHES: a program to provide nutritional supplements, vitamins and parasite treatment to the children in orphanages and children's homes in Nepal.

Very often the  food  provided in children's homes and orphanages is  limited both in quantity and quality, variation and nutritional adequacy -- and post earthquake it is even more difficult to get healthy nutrient rich food to all the unparented.   Many of the children living in the orphanages and children's homes have parasites that further deprive them of the nutrients they need to reach their full potential. Getting rid of the parasites endemic to the orphanages will immediately increase the nutritional gain the children receive from the food they already have access to and supplementing that food with daily vitamins and supplemental nutrition packs that make up for what is lacking in their diets will have immediate and long lasting impacts on their health, growth, development and lifespan.

With your help, NAFA Nourishes will be able to provide that supplementary nutrition as well as the parasite treatment and daily multi-vitamins and minerals to an increasing number of orphanages and homes.  In August we sent a training team to Nepal for 60 days to work with a team of Nepali nutritionists/RNs who we will conduct on going assessments of nutritional needs and delivery of the medication, nutritional supplements, and vitamins with the goal of eventually servicing all 350 or so orphanages and children's homes in Nepal. 

This type of intervention can result in lowered instances of illness, faster recovery time, decreased mortality rates in childhood, longer lives in adulthood, increased cognitive ability, increased height and weight, healthier pregnancies and healthier children into the 3rd generation.
