Help Emily!

This “Go Fund Me” is for my wife Emily Chen . She and I have been married for 8 years and she is truly the best person I know. She is a sweet person and has always helped others, but now needs your help and this is her story.

She and I live in Doha, Qatar and I left a teaching job to go with her. I could not work because I had not obtained a permanent residency, so kept house and took care of everything at home while she worked as the head of personnel for a very large natural gas construction project. It was her dream job and she talked about it a full year before and was elated when she was hired in a senior position and asked if I would join her. So, she left our home in mid August and I joined her some weeks later. We really enjoyed the country and even discussed retiring there. All was well until November when we realized that our son was having issues in China. He has significant mental illness and some significant physical health problems and because of these, he will never be employable. I flew to China to assist him in mid-November and Emily was to join us the end of December for her two week break. On the 29th of December she was scheduled to fly into Nanjing International Airport in China. We received a message “just landed” and have not seen nor heard from her since. We panicked and called the Airport police and reported her disappearance and I contacted the American Embassy, who refused to help since she is a Chinese citizen. The Airport Police called my son back and informed him that she had been arrested by the Chinese Secret Police. Several days following this we received a letter in Chinese that she had been detained on the Charges of supplying a foreigner with state secrets. All of this happened because in between her two jobs, she was asked to assist an American company establish a location in China for their business. So, having extensive HR experience and of course being fluent they asked for information about HR IN China and she went to the city of Daling to scout office locations and an apartment for the owner of the company. She did this and according to the owner did a magnificent job. All of this was over about a month’s time and in May, my a wife joined me in America and three days after arriving in America was called about the Qatar job and took it. When she got off the plane in Nanjing and was taken into custody for work she had performed for this company wanting to locate in Dalian.

So, currently I am in China with my son and all accounts in China have been frozen. I have to go back to Qatar and vacate our home because the country only issues 30 day visas and am not sure if I can close the account there because I am not a permanent resident, and Emily is and has the only accounts, which are in her name. When I go to Qatar I also must have a ticket in hand to exit the country, which I will have to go to the United States to look for work. Currently, I have scraped together enough cash for my son to have an apartment for 3 months in China and I will have to make arrangements for myself in America’ plus pay the legal costs for my wife, which all total with living expenses and other items I am estimating to be around half a million dollars. I honestly hate having to write this, and am struggling to keep my family together, and it is so difficult.
