Donation protected
Meet Mohammed Vali . He is a local Savannah resident, and yoga practitioner. He worked for Deloitte & HSBC before taking up an unconventional opportunity to travel and work in Uganda & the USA as a finance associate for Godrej in Savannah, Georgia. He is also one of the founders of Artisaga , whose mission is to create a global handicrafts platform with a local perspective. With a focus on fostering sustainable global relationships, they source heritage crafts for buyers directly from their creators.

Mohammed's mother,Dr. Lulu Fatema Vali  is a government doctor in India and works on the ground with COVID patients on a daily basis. Since February 8, 2021 the number of cases  in Nagpur  the Maharashtra region of India has skyrocketed from 2,216 cases per day to a peak of 67,160 cases per day on April 24th. The need for medical supplies and funding is exploding. When asked what we could do to help, Mohammed suggested that we can help our extended family of humans by making a donation directly to those on the ground, working to serve those in the most need.

The Government Medical College  in Nagpur, India serves up to to 1000 COVID patients and patients with black fungus murcomycosis  (which is a related condition coming from  the re-use of unsanitary masks) and is in need of funding for the following:

UPDATE:

From a recent communication with Dr. Vali, what is most in need at this time is the following:

“Arterial blood gas analysis (ABG) machine ,is used for the most essential investigation to manage critical patients in ICU.. It has various parameters which can be used to modify ongoing patients treatment and improve overall outcomes. It has various gas analysis parameters such as PO2, PCO2, PH, HCO3,etc which is must for modifying ventilatory support in ICU patients and also for analysis of acid-base disorders which can be treated accordingly. It has Hb and HCT which is equally important to know the anaemic status of the patient. ABG analysis even gives values of serum electrolytes such as serum Na, K and Ca, for which corrections can also be given accordingly as per the need. It has serum lactate levels which helps to know anaerobic glycolysis in patients body and to predict ongoing sepsis in the patient and manage antibiotics accordingly.  With all the above parameters which we get from single machine in a fraction seconds, we can manage critically ill patients successfully to improve their outcomes and discharge from ICU with early recovery.”

The quality of the machine currently in use is not great and it is hampering the recovery of the patients. These cost US $17,000 so we have updated the fundraiser goal to try and meet this amount.

If we are unable to reach the goal, the funds will be used as follows:

Oxygen concentrators - $500 to $600 each

Hospital wheelchairs

Refrigerators for drug storage

Payment of medical bills of the Covid patients to take care of them until they get well

Purchase of medicines for Covid patients during recovery

Support for the the Covid warriors for their heroic service throughout the pandemic

This fundraiser is being done to provide financial support towards the recovery and care of Covid patients in Nagpur, India. The funds will be distributed under the supervision of Dr. Lulu Fatema Vali (Cardiac and Neuro Anesthesiologist and Head of Department ).  All funds will be accounted for and a record of distribution will be available for review.
