Nala Now Needs Dental Work
Donation protected
EDIT: Now that she’s cleared for dental work, I took her for that and will be hit with a $900 bill. I have pet insurance so I will hopefully be reimbursed for some of it, but any funds to help is greatly appreciated. Anything extra will go towards her food and medications.
EDIT: Almost there! I forgot to calculate the consult fee as part of her Cardiologist appointment so I boosted the amount by the $200 fee.
EDIT: In hopes of avoiding the ultrasound, we did additional blood/urine tests, including one for Pro-BNP which was slightly elevated, enough to warrant the additional testing of her heart. Nala’s consultation is scheduled for 9/16, so any help getting towards the very end of this goal is much appreciated!!
EDIT: We’re moving forward with an ultrasound once we have the funds. I was quoted $200 for a consult & $750 for the actual ultrasound. I’ve updated the goal to reflect these approximate costs.
Hi everyone.
Yesterday, 3/19/2024, before a routine dental cleaning appointment, we found out that my 7 year old cat Nala has a Grade 2 heart murmur. This came as a surprise to me, as her yearly physical didn’t indicate any issues a few weeks prior.
It could be benign, but the vet wants to either do an ultrasound at an outside clinic (way out of my budget) or a series of chest X-rays on her next appointment, April 2nd. This will help us figure out if she has an underlying heart disease, and may need ongoing medication. It will also help us figure out if it will be safe for her to undergo anesthesia for her dental cleaning which she really needs due her risk of periodontal disease. She already takes medication for a skin condition (about $50 a month) and has a special allergen-free diet as well (about $100 a bag).
Aside from paying for the X-rays, any excess funds will go towards her medications or diet. I really appreciate any way of spreading/sharing this gofundme.
Thank you!!!!
