Cyclone Relief for Namara, Kadavu, Fiji
Donation protected
Bula Everyone,
On the 9th of April, my village, Namara (Tikina Sanima, Yasana Kadavu), along with 74 other villages on the island of Kadavu south of Fiji, was hit by category 4, Tropical Cyclone Harold. As the photos below show, the cyclone left a trail of severe damage and destruction to homes, gardens, plantations and parts of the only school in the village. This loss has caused loss of shelter, food source and personal household items and belongings. The situation is dire.
It took us 2 days to establish communication with the village after the cyclone and the pictures below show a really grim reality of the state of devastation. Our only relief is that no one lost their life.
On behalf of the concerned members of Namara village both in Fiji and abroad we humbly seek for monetary donations towards the provisions of basic and essential items and rations to assist in the recovery of the families in the village. We call out to our fellow Namara villagers, extended family, friends, anyone with connections to Namara one way or the other and the public at large in Fiji and abroad to send out and support this appeal.
We acknowledge the whole world is going through tough times at the moment with the corona virus pandemic, however any donation even if it may be a few dollars towards this worthy cause would be greatly appreciated.
Vinaka vakalevu and God bless you.
