Who We Are:
NAMI Alameda in NAMI Alameda County is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that has been supporting, educating and advocating for mental health and families in Alameda County since 1977.
“The mission of NAMI Alameda County is to enrich the lives of ALL families and individuals in Alameda County who have been affected by serious mental illness. Our volunteers work tirelessly to reduce the devastating effects of stigma and to improve services in Alameda County through support, education and advocacy.”
Our area covers Oakland through Fremont, including Castro Valley. We are affiliates of NAMI California, and NAMI National. All services are free of charge to participants. Funding is through memberships, donations and grants.
We're currently working with a Bay Area tech company named SageSurfer to develop an app in the mental health space.
What We're Looking For
Additional funding of $25,000 to support our efforts to better assist those in need of mental health care.
30k GOAL:
Tier 1 First $15,000:
-Family to Family Support and Nami Peer to Peer classes - We run educational classes to help those caring for loved ones with mental illness and support those who are struggling with peer to peer classes.
-John George Christmas Outreach - John George is a mental health hospital in Alameda County that we work with and we will use some of this money to support.
-Partnership with 211 - 211 is a non-profit organization that provides resources to Alameda County residents and we're looking to raise funds to partner with them to better our app to be able to serve those in need here in Alameda County.
Tier 2 Next $15,000:
-Outreach to homeless in Oakland and Alameda - This is for a program to help support our homeless community dealing with mental illness.
-Signature Program Coordinator - We're looking to expand what we're doing with our services and would like to pay a small stipend to someone to better organize and expand our classes.
-Dinobi App - We'll use this money to develop additional features, do community outreach and better be able to provide service to those needing mental health assistance.
-Community Outreach (Presentations) - This will support our community outreach presentations that educate the population on mental health issues.
Stretch Goals:
Staffing - The majority of our organization is done through volunteering. We'd like to expand our ability to help those in need by giving stipends to some of our volunteers for their work.
Dinobi App - We have additional features we've talked about adding if we're able to expand our budget. This will allow us to create a better app and do more community outreach.
Thank you for your support,
