Nam’s Cancer Journey

Hi Everyone, as some of you may know Nam Bouakham, a father, husband, brother, friend & grandpa had received the devastating news that he had been diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer in May. The news struck his family like a thunderbolt, and they were filled with a mixture of fear and sorrow.

Nam was born in Laos and grew up there until he 20’s. He was a devoted family man who always put his loved ones before himself. With his unwavering determination, Nam dreamed of providing a better life for his family. Seeking opportunities, he made the brave decision to move to America with his family.

He resides in Worthington, MN for 3 decades. Nam faced countless challenges, but his resilience and dedication never wavered. He found work to support his family, working long hours in a factory. Despite the hardships, Nam always had a smile on his face and an unwavering love for his family.

One day, he noticed this large lump on his neck. In short, he went into the clinic and then was referred to ENT (ear, nose, & throat) in Sioux Falls in February. He had surgery to remove the tumor (which was unknown at the time) in March. Multiple biopsy’s & scans were done from March - June and finally getting confirmation that he indeed has cancer. He has visited with Oncology to discuss chemo radiation. This coming week he has another appointment to receive a Port-A-Cath due to starting all treatments on June 19th.

Nam’s diagnosis brought his family even closer together. His wife, children, and extended family gathered to support him during this difficult time. They showered him with love, offering encouragement and assuring him that they would fight alongside him.

A fundraising campaign was launched to support Nam’s medical and living expenses. The funds raised through the campaign will help cover medical expenses and provided peace of mind, allowing Nam to focus on his recovery. Please support him and his family through this difficult time.
