New Roof Desperately Needed by Long Covid Victim

Our dear friend Laura Sorrells in Pickens County, Georgia has been suffering from Long Covid for more than four years. Some days are better than others, but some days, she can barely move, barely function. She’s a teacher, and has done her best to continue to serve in her calling, but her health makes many things impossible. Sometimes just taking out the garbage is more than her body can manage. She lost her health insurance when she had to give up teaching full time and has just been barely hanging on.

Now in addition to her medical issues, her home owner's insurance is refusing to pay for desperately needed repairs to her roof, caused by a storm a year or so ago. She had hired a couple of handymen to patch what they could--all she could afford--but apparently the "patch" did more damage than it fixed. In order for her to stay safely in her home, the roof HAS to be replaced.

“Just so very very very discouraged and defeated today. Physically crashing every time I somehow manage to get a day of substitute teaching in. This is the most hopeless I have felt in many months. It just does not feel like figuring anything out is worth it and I can barely walk anyway. It seems like the harder I try, the worse things get somehow. I know I'm not the only one with damage but my physical illness and the fact that I am totally alone make it much harder...."

Those of us with houses know just how critical it is to have a roof that doesn't leak.
