Nancy Alloway: A Life of Service

Hi, my name is Judi and I’m fundraising for my mother Nancy Alloway’s end of life and funeral expenses.

My mom was a strong trooper until the end. In the hospital, she was successfully weaned off of oxygen from pneumonia the night before (despite complications after an angiogram). The next morning, on February 1st, 2024, she suddenly and peacefully passed as her morning wake-up alarm chimed.

My parents lived a life of service in our local community. My mom was an elementary school teacher, who believed in the inclusion of all children regardless of their abilities with her co-teacher, Mrs. Jane Branin. My dad was a former US Army Sargeant that worked in a paper factory, who eventually owned a business that almost ruined our family.

My mom took care of her mother for 2 years in New Jersey and her aunt in Florida at the end of her life. Unfortunately, she was denied paid leave and the highest percentage of her aunt’s estate went to her brother.

Additionally, my parents were always generous to lend a helping hand. They loaned friends and family money and items, but they weren’t paid back.

Regardless, my parents forgave and loved their friends and family. They often hosted large Super Bowl and Fourth of July parties, holidays and celebrations to see everyone.

I’ve spent the last 9 years taking care of my mom and previously dad. My parents were the only ones there for me every step of the way in overcoming my own 4 year disability, when I was unable to walk and digest solid foods.

After my dad passed, it has been really tough for us, not just emotionally, but also financially with his and now hers end of life expenses not paid by medical insurance. We weren’t invited to family gatherings for the past 3 1/2 years. We were devastated.

These funds would help cover their final expenses and honor her memory by providing money for her birthday memorial service. Thank you for your consideration and support.
