Nancy R. Lysko (67), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on March 17, 2024. Born in Ocean Grove, NJ, Nancy's life was one filled with joy, laughter, and love, marked by a journey of passion, dedication, and kindness.
After graduating from Neptune High School in 1974, Nancy pursued her education at Centenary College, where she graduated in 1976, and then at Monmouth University, completing her degree in 1978. Nancy's passion for education and nurturing young minds led her to a rewarding career as a preschool teacher starting in 1975. Throughout her career, she touched the lives of countless students with her wisdom, patience, and nurturing spirit, shaping the futures of many young learners with her dedication and love.
Nancy married Jay Carr on July 27, 2019, and together they shared a life full of love and happiness. She was the guiding light in the lives of her children, and adored her grandchildren. She cherished every moment spent with them. Nancy also held a special place in her heart for Samantha Strano, who was like a granddaughter to her. Nancy's family was her world, and her legacy of love, strength, and compassion will live on through them.
Nancy leaves behind her husband Jay Carr, her three children, David Lysko, Jackie Lysko, and Eric Brugel, her four grandchildren, Travis Lysko, Alaina Lysko, Leila Lysko, and Brayden Burke, two brothers, Howard Huntley and Robert Day, and her niece and nephew, Melissa and Howie Huntley.
An avid Steelers fan, Nancy enjoyed cheering on her favorite team, especially at the Wonder Bar, affectionately known as "Steeler Country" among friends and fellow fans. This spot was more than just a place to watch football; it was a community where Nancy cherished the camaraderie and shared laughter. Her creative spirit also shone brightly through her love for arts and crafts, particularly diamond art and puzzles, and she was an enthusiastic bowler.
Nancy's profound impact on her community and all who knew her was marked by her kindness, sense of humor, and generous spirit, making her a cherished figure in Ocean Grove and beyond.
A memorial service to honor Nancy's life will be held at Ocean Grove Memorial Home, located at 118 Main St, Ocean Grove, NJ, on March 26, 2024, from 4 pm to 7 pm. Additionally, a celebration of Nancy's life will take place at the Wonder Bar, located at 1213 Ocean Ave, Asbury Park, NJ, from 5 pm to 10 pm. All who knew and loved Nancy are welcome to join in celebrating her remarkable life.
In lieu of flowers, the family will accept any contributions towards funeral costs. Nancy's light and love will forever shine in the hearts of those she touched.
