Hi
i’m Nancy
I have metastatic breast cancer, and I am 72. Denying being ‘elderly’ applied to
me. a tumor broke through my
femur bone and no more patching up
can be done. I gave up crutches and was confined to a wheelchair indoors.
Before this illness, my life revolved
around being outside in beautiful nature. I shared walks and talks with our dog and my friends and often solo into nearby
woods. Gardening was very important
for food and sharing and for the
pleasure it brings.
I’m handy with the wheelchair. We now have ramps at steps to a concrete patio.
Yet going onto the earth and grass and
touching
plants and soil is the healing that I yearn
for.
An all -terrain wheelchair will allow me to do this. It goes over bumps and the
electric motor propels it slowly up
inclines.
I think I have researched the right one-
good for my smaller body and recharges
overnight. It is less costly than most.
My husband and i are on fixed incomes
and cannot safely handle more debt.
This all-terrain wheelchair is about $1200.
I feel it would make a huge difference in my life to be in touch with Nature more
directly and somewhat independently.
