Nancy Wallace’s Kidney Transplant
Donation protected
SURGERY DATE-April 10, 2024
♥️EDIT♥️
After seeing the transplant team again the financial department suggested we increase the goal.
Starting a go fund me page was against everything my mother believed in. But it’s necessary because insurance only pays 80% and my mom also has to cover the donors medical costs before and after surgery. We greatly appreciate all the generosity, love and support from everyone.
My name is Jennifer Wallace-Herman and I am writing on behalf of my mother Nancy Wallace. Five years ago she was diagnosed with stage-four kidney disease, and has been in treatment ever since. Over the last year her kidney disease has progressed, and is now in constant physicians care, and has been informed that she needs a kidney transplant to stay alive. When I heard the news I immediately began researching, and found the National Kidney Registry. I learned that although I was not a match for my Mother, that if I donated one of my own kidneys, that my Mother would be more likely to receive a matching transplant. I did not hesitate in my decision, hoping I could help prolong two identical strangers time with their loved ones. The only downside for this to happen is that my mother will incur significant out-of-pocket expenses, not only for the hospital stay and surgery, but for the follow up medications and lifelong care required for such a procedure. Currently my Mother is staying with my family in Mississippi, in preparation for this life-changing surgery. The procedure will occur in Memphis, Tennessee in the next few weeks, and will require months of monitoring and follow-up appointments. If you know my Mother, you know she is loving, generous, and rarely asks anyone for anything more than a hello or a smile. I ask that only if you are able to, that you consider helping my mother, through any small donation. Even a few dollars will go a long way in her recovery. We love and thank you for this, and hope to come out healthier than ever and pay your generosity forward! Thank you and God Bless!
