Narelle Oliver Exhibition

Donation protected
We want to produce a major exhibition of illustration by Narelle Oliver at the StoryArts Festival Ipswich (SAFI), we need your help. This exhibition will be a highlight of the Festival, and will continue in the Ipswich Community Gallery throughout September, with holiday workshops engaging children and adults alike in the arts. It will then travel to Fremantle to The Liteature Centre.

We need your help to make this a reality and honour Narelle Oliver’s lifetime of work and dedication to the Arts. Help support the recreation of Narelle Oliver’s art studio, provide materials and equipment for the moving image projection and materials for workshop artists.

In September, StoryArts Festival Ipswich will offer exciting FREE literary experiences for children showcasing over 30 authors, illustrators and performers. We are planning a major exhibition of Narelle Oliver’s work. Sadly she passed away in 2016 but we are committed to bringing her vision to reality and showcasing her last book.

The gallery walls will display prints, linocuts and roughs from a cross section of her books. We will re-create Narelle’s studio within the gallery for visitors to experience with artefacts, objects and art materials carefully selected from her studio to be on display. An Augmented Reality app will bring the characters to life in 3-D. Large, to-scale images will be used as backdrops to recreate every aspect of Narelle’s studio as it was when creating her last book "I Want to be in a Book".

Student Workshops were conducted in February to explore the printmaking techniques used by Narelle Oliver to create a series of art works. The children’s art is being transformed into a moving image projection and will be shown each night for two weeks of the exhibition on nearby exterior buildings.

This will be the first major exhibition of Narelle Oliver’s art.

Your donations will:
• support the purchase of backdrops for the re-created studio
• provide materials and equipment for the moving image projection
• provide materials for workshop artists

We already have a major RADF grant to fund most of the exhbition, but a few extra items have emerged since we first did the planning. We need to know what funds we will have by the end of July to know if we can afford to include the backdrops to the studio and materials for the holiday workshops.
