Nashville Says 'Thank You', Lij Shaw!

Not all heroes wear capes. This is true, even if our hero has been spotted in one. Which he probably has. Or at least should be.

In 2015, Lij Shaw took the metaphorical bullet for all home studio owners in Nashville: Metro served him papers saying he needed to shut down his successful home studio, a business that had been blessed with a Grammy win not one month earlier. Life is a roller coaster, and the music business even more so.

But did Lij back down? No. Did he capitulate? No. He ducked into the nearest phone booth (which was hard to find even in 2015) and hatched a plan to leap City Hall in a single bound. Lij led the charge to Save Home Studios, gathering a legal team around him, starting petitions, making cool t-shirts, and keeping us all updated with Facebook posts that were upbeat even when the situation looked dire. And he did it all for FIVE FREAKING YEARS.

Now, Nashville, the time has come to thank him. 

We’ve started a fund to show Lij how much this means to all of us. We can now run our home studios in peace, and with a clear conscience - and without the fear of Johnny Law coming to take it all away. And it’s all thanks to Lij (F’n) Shaw.

Please open your wallets, Nashville. What is it worth to you, to be able to conduct your business legally?

Our brother did us a solid that will go down in history. Now let’s spoil him rotten.

And if he uses some of the money to buy a cape, well…. We won’t be the one to stop him.
