Hi all! I’ve decided to run in a half marathon on October 6 but wanted to do so with a purpose. My goal is to eventually run a full marathon and maybe more beyond that. However, knowing myself I can be a bit over ambitious and I will take my wife’s advice and start slowly.
I’ve decided that I want to raise money for Nassau Boces Carmen rd school. This school holds a very special place in my heart, as my sister attended this school for 9 years before passing away in 2001. Carmen Rd school provides comprehensive care and educational services for students with a variety of disabilities that include physical and developmental impairments, as well as student with autism. Growing up, I remember that many things that we needed weren’t cheap and/or covered by insurance companies. This includes leg braces, wheelchairs, special devices... you name it. I’ve contacted the school and hope to raise some money in order to donate to school and/or family that could use assistance in affording these mechanisms so that it can make life a little easier. These items SHOULD be free but sadly they are not AND that’s a different battle for a different day.
Anyways, if you would like to support me in this endeavor it would mean the world to me. If you know a company that would like to donate or you belong to one...
