Natalia's Recovery: One step at a time

Donation protected
Dear Friends and Community,

I'm Liz, on behalf of Lucyna Chlabicz and Anna Szachowicz, I'm reaching out to you for support for my dear friend Natalia.

On Sunday, January 28, 2024, our beloved friend Natalia suffered a sudden and traumatic cardiac arrest, attributed to a malignant arrhythmia with mitral valve prolapse, while simply going about her morning routine of making breakfast. This devastating event resulted in Natalia experiencing severe anoxic brain injury (which occurs when the brain is deprived of oxygen), plunging her into a coma and requiring her admission to St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto. For an entire month, Natalia fought bravely in the intensive care unit, spending weeks intubated and, on a ventilator, clinging to life with incredible strength and resilience."

Natalia's journey since that fateful day has been nothing short of a Herculean battle. She has faced unimaginable challenges, undergoing numerous medical procedures and therapies as she fights to regain function and reclaim her life. Throughout it all, her unwavering spirit and infectious humor have continued to inspire all who know her.

In this trying time, Natalia has been blessed with the love and support of her devoted mother, Lucyna, who flew in from Poland to be by her side, as well as her aunt, Anna, who has been a steadfast pillar of support. Their presence has been a source of comfort and strength for Natalia as she navigates the complexities of her recovery journey.

On April 11, Natalia was transferred to a complex care facility that specializes in providing care for patients requiring chronic care. As she takes this next step in her recovery, her family is confronted with the daunting reality of mounting medical expenses, including the costs associated with intensive rehabilitation and therapy.

Natalia will undoubtedly encounter challenges in her physical and mental recovery journey. Her mother is tirelessly working to secure placement in a renowned neuro-rehabilitation facility in Poland, known for its expertise. This is why we're launching this fundraising campaign and reaching out to our community for support. Our aim is to raise funds to aid Natalia's transportation to Poland and cover the costs of her stay in the rehabilitation facility. With your help, we can ensure Natalia receives the comprehensive care necessary for her recovery.

By contributing to this fundraiser, you will not only help alleviate the financial burden on Natalia's family but also provide much-needed relief and support during this challenging time. No donation is too small, and every contribution will make a meaningful difference in Natalia's recovery journey.

Please consider donating to Natalia's recovery fund and sharing her story with your networks. Together, we can rally around Natalia and her family, offering them the strength, love, and resources they need to overcome this obstacle and emerge stronger together.

Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and unwavering support.

With heartfelt gratitude, Liz, Lucyna, Anna and the Supporters of Natalia
