Natalia's road to Zambia 2024!

Hey! I'm Natalia and I'm fundraising for Volunteer Zambia 2024!

From now till July next year I will be Fundraising £2500 to travel to Zambia to be a Sports development officer volunteer.

Volunteer Zambia is an international sport programme run by the Wallace Group – a collaboration between leading UK ‘sport’ universities – they support and work with the leading Zambian sports NGO, Sport in Action. Together, they use sport to engage, educate and empower young people in Zambia and the UK.

As a group of eight students and staff members, we will be coaching and instructing hundreds of Children of all ages nationwide for two months in order to help them establish lifelong skills and a passion for sports. We will be working with most specifically young women and girls from some of the most difficult environments in the Country, we hope to empower, engage, and educate them for their future.

This volunteering project is very important to me and will aid me in tackling some of the barriers in sport that trend across the world today.

Sport has played a huge role in my life from a young age and helped me to develop many skills within my athletic performance, academic learning and career ambitions. As well as this, it has helped me to overcome life challenges and build new relationships across the world.

As a Female athlete i strive for equality and opportunity in sport for everyone, from all backgrounds and demographics. Coming from a minority background myself i have been fortunate to only experience a few barriers in sport and ones that have only challenged me to strive higher so other Females don't have to experience these.

But i didn't do this alone......

I have been endlessly lucky to have support in my sport, with team mates and coaches that have created such an inspiring Community of change, motivation and belonging.

This is exactly what i plan to do in Zambia with my peers and fellow coaches. Culture and change certainly doesn’t happen overnight but across the 2 months we are in Zambia i hope to be an asset to the Wallace group and charity, continuing the work of those before me and aiding young upcoming athletes. I aspire to work on my own skills too and improve as a mentor and athlete during this period.

All money raised will go towards my Journey there and throughout my stay in Zambia and is key to run the project. This also helps towards travel and living costs, sports equipment for the local communities and The Fountain of hope programme which provides locals with hot food and essentials.
