Natasha's Eating Disorder Recovery Plan

My name is Robert Romeo, and I would like to share my story. I have a daughter who has an eating disorder-anorexia Nervosa. She has been battling this severe illness for the past 8 years. It has impacted her quality of life, despite her determination to never give up.

Throughout her journey, she has had multiple hospital admissions for medical stabilization, including a recent admission that almost nearly took her life.

My wife and I have tried tirelessly to seek specialized treatment in Victoria for our daughter. We believe there is a huge gap in our healthcare system for people with eating disorders. While hospitals only seem to stabilize the person, there is a clear lack of long-term effective treatment options and long waiting lists for services.

My daughter has seen several Psychologists and Dietitians over the years who claim they are specialized in eating disorders; however, they have left my daughter feeling like there is no hope for her ever to recover.

With her fighting spirit to never give up, my daughter has bravely researched herself to find treatment outside Victoria. She is currently receiving treatment with an Eating disorder Recovery Coach with A lived experience. This is with a community-based charity end ED. They assist individuals and their families to help navigate a disorientating journey to find specialised services. They are located on the Sunshine Coast and help people from all over Australia. End ED has also been involved in the development and now established Australia’s first live-in Eating Disorder Residential Facility, Wandi Nerida. Feel free to follow the link to learn more about Wandi Nerida.

Unfortunately, with the costs of the residential facility our daughter is only able to access the current help she receives through end ED in the community. Health professionals such as her GP, paramedics and hospital staff have highly recommending this treatment for my daughter because of the duration and severity of her illness.

My hope is to raise money towards and ask for any kind of donations that may help my daughter have a real chance at recovery. Thank you for making the time to read my story.
