Nathan as him and his family fights Huntington's

Nathan & Heather

We created this because we wanted to help our friends Nathan and Heather.
They are both so humble and rarely ask anyone for help so I wanted to help them.

Nathan suffers from a terminal illness called Huntington's Disease.
It's described as having ALS, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's all at the same time.

Nathan and Heather have shared their story to help others with HD to know they aren't alone.
They are currently working on the fundraising walk for HDSA and have helped do fundraisers for Help4HD as a way to help others in their same situation.

No matter how down Nathan gets about his illness, he always has a smile on his face and happy to see or help anyone he can.

Nathan and Heather have been wanting to find or build a home closer to her work so she's isn't so far away from Nathan during the day. They currently live in Brandon but Heather works an hour away.

Inside the new home they need certain things like larger rooms, wide doorways, strong ceilings to accommodate a lift to help Nathan move around the house a bathroom with a shower/tub all that can accommodate a wheelchair because eventually Nathan will be completely dependent on the care from others.

Heather not only is a caregiver for Nathan, but she handles everything for her Mom and Uncle who are in a nursing home. She's also
a Mom to a 7 year old little boy and holds down a full time job.

Heather shared this post she found below recently on social media that is a description of living with Huntington's Disease.

It’s called the long goodbye. Rapidly shrinking brain, is how a doctor described it. As the patient's brain slowly dies, they change physically and eventually forget who their loved ones are and become less themselves.

Patients can eventually become bedridden, unable to move, and unable to eat or drink or talk to their loved ones. There will be people who will scroll by this message because Huntington's Disease has not touched them.

They may not know what it's like to have a loved one who has fought or is fighting a battle against Huntington's Disease.

In an effort to raise awareness to the disease in general, we really want to help Heather and Nathan with buying a handicap accessible home, therapy, equipment, hospitals bills, and help with his 2 kids as well as other family members.
