Nathan Crowe Cancer medical bills
Hello, my name is Richard Capps, along with my fellow teacher and coach, Dan Turner. Coach Turner and I will be riding our bikes 464 miles from the west side of Iowa across the whole state to the east side of Iowa raising money for one of my former students and athletes, Nathan Crowe. Nate was a good student and a good athlete. He played football and lacrosse for me. He is a standout person of great character. Six months after graduating high school when he was about to leave for college where he was going to play lacrosse, he was getting his physical when a lemon size lump appeared on his neck. Further examination confirmed the unfortunate news that Nate had cancer. When Nate should have been following his high school friends to college, he was now fighting the biggest battle of his life. He began taking chemotherapy and treatments to fight the cancer. Praying and believing they had caught it in time, the first round of treatments went well. However, in just a few short months, the cancer returned. It is a rare form of cancer and the doctors were not sure how to treat the cancer. The only alternative was to try experimental treatment, which the Crowe family agreed.
The medical cost as you may image, are astronomical. The Crowe family are all working to help pay the medical expenses for Nathan’s treatments. To date it seems the treatments are having some positive effects for Nathan. He too, is trying to work to help his family pay the medical expenses. This “GoFundMe” account is being set up to raise money to help the Crowe’s and Nathan pay those medical expenses. Coach Turner and I have pledged to ride our bicycles across the great state of Iowa the last week of July 2021.
In October, my son and I along with my nephew have pledged to bicycle across North Carolina, another 467 miles. In total almost 1000 miles to raise awareness for Nathan Crowe and cancer. We will accept donations and or pledges to pay on a “per mile basis” for every mile we complete. We have people who are donating lumps sums and others who are pledging per-mile. For example, if we can get people to pledge just one cent per-mile for both rides that would translate into $9.31. Imagine how big an impact this would have for the Crowe family. Our goal is $8500 to $10,000.00.
We ask not only for your pledge, donation, or contribution, but your prayers as Coach Turner and I make the first leg of this journey in the coming days.
God Bless you all,
Respectfully,
Richard Capps
Dan Turner
