Nathan Darr Memorial Scholarship Fund

December 18, 2019 was a terrible day for everyone whose life was touched by Nathan S. Darr. He was taken from us way too soon by an undiagnosed heart condition called arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC) which is the leading cause of sudden death among young athletes but can affect people of all ages.  Nate’s friends and family are creating both a place of remembrance and a scholarship in his name so his memory will live on in Centerville and continue to give back to the community he loved so much.  Nate was a standout soccer star at both Centerville High School and the University of Dayton so a tree and plaque will bear his name near Legacy Field to honor his athletic accomplishments and give a quiet place to sit and remember him. Nate was always the life the party, a shoulder to lean on and a friend through thick and thin. Those of us that knew him all felt special and welcomed in his presence. In a final act of selflessness, Nate was an organ donor which helped better the lives of many people in our area. It is now our turn to build on his example and better our community by offering a scholarship in his name to a Centerville student so they can pursue their dreams. Thank you for kick starting this fundraising effort since we cannot fund raise in person at this time, and we are not sure when we will be able to do so because of the pandemic. Once enough scholarship money is raised to continue the scholarship in perpetuity, we will pass it on to the board that oversees scholarships for Centerville City schools. **THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR GENEROUS DONATIONS! We have recently created the place of remembrance at Legacy Field and had a tree dedicated on 10/2/20. We are SOOOO close to our goal of 10,000 and we are moving forward to the creating of the scholarship specifics so it can be ready to go for the seniors in spring!
