Hello,

my name is Gaia, I moved to the UK in 2018 from Italy to be with Nate and we have been together through thick and thin.

Nate was diagnosed with germ cell cancer early days of June after being unwell for a very long time and not knowing why.

From when he was diagnosed to when he died only 10 days passed. He was diagnosed on the 14th of June and died on the 24th of June 2024. Went to hospital for his first round of chemotherapy, caught covid, got progressively worse and eventually sepsis took him. He was only 35. He was determined to fight, he was determined to beat this and he knew he had me by his side, we were going to fight it togheter. He was robbed of the opportunity to fight and all my love could not be The Cure.

Because we never married I am not entitled to any benefits or any kind of support and I don't have any access to his accounts or benefits to use towards his funeral. I am unable to afford a funeral on my own but if I let the NHS Trust take care of it not only there will be no function but I won't even be able to attend the cremation, I will only receive a phone call to collect the ashes. This is incredibly undignified and heartbreaking. I want to do better for him and provide a proper send off. He had no living family, it was just the two of us, but he had plenty friends that cared for him and loved him that deserve to be able to say goodbye.

I ask the friends that knew him and the kind hearted strangers that happen to read this, if you are able to afford to spare a few pounds I beg you, please help me lay Nate to rest and celebrate his life and his memory.
