“Often, people will think that just because I am dealing with a potentially life-threatening illness, that my entire life has come to a standstill. One thing that I would like for them to know is that although I am restricted to being on hospital grounds, I am still accomplishing things and planning for my life ahead. In no way, shape or form has my life or my goals come to a standstill.” - Nathanael S. Wright

Nathanael S. Wright Memorial Foundation honors and commemorates the life, leadership, and legacy of Nathanael S. Wright. In March 2019, Nathanael was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. On January 30, 2020, Nathanael passed away with his family by his side.

Nathanael's smile and happiest shone bright and delighted everyone that he came in contact with. Nathanael graduated from North Crowley High School in 2019. He planned to attend the University of Houston to study psychology to later become a lawyer or work in higher education. He’ll forever be known as an inquisitive scholar, an aspiring attorney, as well as a faithful son, brother, and friend.

Nathanael S. Wright Memorial Foundation seeks to recognize students who exhibit exceptional attributes and character chronicled by Nathanael despite his condition. His passion for social justice chartered a course he, unfortunately, was unable to complete himself.

Each scholarship will recognize students devoted to carrying that baton in pursuit of social justice,  civic merit, and overall excellence. Nathanael lived life intentionally and lived life well.
