Nathan’s Leg Surgery Recovery Fund

Hey y’all! I never imagined I would be reaching out for help this way, but I’m desperate. I survived 2 emergency leg surgeries in early December b/c I had obtained a Strep A bacteria called myositis through oral surgery when my surgeon did not give me antibiotics. So the bacteria went straight to my right leg causing it to swell with pain I have never experienced in my life. The surgeons had to remove all bacteria & fluids from my leg before it became infected or I could lose my leg possibly die. I had no choice but to stay in AdventHealth ICU for 11 days & PCU recovery floor for 7 days. I went through the darkest, deepest depression ever as I would just sit in the hospital bed & look out the window hoping to breathe fresh air again. I would cry & scream loudly multiple times a day in physical, emotional & mental pain. It has been the most difficult, frustrating time of my life to overcome the extreme pain & withdrawal from all pain meds. I chose to be on non-narcotic medications to help with pain management. They discharged me on Christmas Eve & I spent Christmas alone with Pickles which was the worst Christmas ever.

I have not worked since 12/6/2023 so no income coming in & I was denied Unemployment benefits since I have a disability. I am applying for disability benefits but will not receive those until 8-12 months later. I’m definitely trying all avenues to find financial assistance, but thought my amazing friends & family may be willing to help me until I start working again. I am currently performing Physical Therapy which is painful to make my leg bend again so when I complete the program I should be released by my Doctor to work again.
