National 3 Peaks challenge for prostate cancer uk
WE’RE TAKING ON THE NATIONAL 3 PEAKS CHALLENGE IN AID OF PROSTATE CANCER!
The National Three Peaks challenge will take place on Saturday 16th August 2019 and we will be aiming to complete it within 24hrs.
It consists of......
25 miles of walking, 10,000 feet of ascent, 450 miles driving and 24 hours to do it in. To me that sounds like a lot to pack in to a day.
Here's the story as to why us men want to raise as much money as possible to help beat this terrible disease.
Myself Liam (plus Luna my dog), Wes and Costner are brothers and my father in-law Andrew have all had someone close to us that have been affected by this disease. Our gramp on our mothers side sadly passed away after battling with prostate cancer. Sadly it had spread throughout his body.
Then two years ago our gramp on our fathers side got diagnosed with it too. Thankfully he is still here but unfortunately it has spread throughout his body.
Andrews father discovered he had the disease and luckily caught it in the early stages and with a small operation he has since made a full recovery and is fit and well.
Although this was brilliant news Andrew later went on to hear some bad news this year that not only a work colleague in his early 40's, but a very close customer of Andrew's had been diagnosed with prostate cancer. We have our fingers crossed that they make speedy recoveries.
These are just a few of our own scenarios among 4 men so this proves how common prostate cancer is.
Remember this disease kills but caught early enough you have the chance to live a long life.
Please help us raise money so one day they will hopefully find a cure.
-Prostrate cancer is the most common cancer in men
-Over 47,000 men are diagnosed with prostrate caner every year- That's 129 men every day!!
-Every 45 minutes one man dies from prostrate cancer
- That's more than 11,000 men every year
-One in eight men will get prostrate cancer in their lifetime
-Around 400,000 men are living with and after prostrate cancer
Thanks in advance for your help!
