National 3 Peaks Challenge in memory of John Jack

Myself, Nigel Mottram, Darren Graham and Rich Mate are attempting the National 3 Peaks Challenge on 6 June. We are raising money in aid of the National Association for Hospice at Home, in memory of my father-in-law, John Jack.

For those of you that knew John, you will remember him being a kind, caring and loving man; an amazing husband to Ann and a wonderful father to Alison and Susan. John had an incredibly short and aggressive illness but during that time he remained upbeat and stoic. His first thought was always to ensure his family and carers were ok and thanked everyone every time they helped with anything. John will be dearly missed by all.

All John's carers were wonderful but the team from Hospice at Home were truly incredible. They were kind and attentive and always treated him with dignity. They were amazing with Ann, Alison and Susan; ensuring they were informed throughout the care they provided and were compassionate and sensitive to their feelings.

The National Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales, within 24 hours.

The total walking distance is 23 miles (37km) and the total ascent is 10,052ft (3064 metres), with a total driving distance of 462 miles. All within 24 hours!

The three mountains are:
Ben Nevis, in Scotland (4,413ft / 1345m)
Scafell Pike, in England (3,209ft / 978m)
Snowdon, in Wales (3,560ft / 1,085m)

We will start climbing Ben Nevis in the morning on 6 June and complete the challenge when we get back down to the base of Snowdon 24 hours later, on the morning of 7 June.

The money we raise is in aid of the National Association for Hospice at Home and every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to John's family.
