A video from the orphanageHelp Support Natural Farming and Education for Orphaned Children in Africa
We are reaching out for your support to help transform the lives of children in an orphanage in Africa. Our project aims to create a sustainable and self-sufficient food system using the principles of Fukuoka Natural Farming, while also providing vital education to these children.
In many parts of Africa, orphanages struggle to provide consistent, nutritious meals for children due to limited resources and the high cost of imported food. By implementing Fukuoka’s method of natural farming, we will teach the children how to grow their own food—using organic, low-cost techniques that nourish both the land and the people. This will help reduce dependency on outside sources and provide the children with the skills to grow food for themselves in the future.
The project’s main goals are:
Establishing a Fukuoka Natural Farm at the orphanage to grow a variety of nutritious foods—fruits, vegetables, and grains—that will be harvested and used to feed the children.
Providing Education: We will also integrate hands-on lessons in sustainable farming into the children’s education, teaching them not only academic subjects but also practical skills that will serve them for life.
Creating Self-Sufficiency: By establishing this farm, the orphanage will be able to significantly reduce its reliance on outside donations and ensure a steady supply of food.
Your contribution will directly fund the materials needed to start this farming project, including seeds, tools, and training for both the children and the caregivers. It will also support the construction of garden beds, irrigation systems, and other necessary infrastructure.
Together, we can empower these children with the tools they need to thrive and grow. By supporting this project, you are helping create a future where they are not just surviving, but flourishing in a sustainable and self-sufficient way.
Please consider donating today and sharing this campaign with your friends and family. Every little bit helps, and together, we can make a lasting difference in the lives of these children.
How We Will Use the 5,000 Euros:
Farming Tools and Equipment – 1,000 Euros
To get started with Fukuoka Natural Farming, we will need essential tools such as hoes, rakes, spades, shovels, watering cans, and irrigation equipment. These tools will allow the children and caretakers to properly maintain the farm and implement sustainable farming practices.
Seeds and Planting Materials – 800 Euros
We will purchase a variety of organic seeds for growing vegetables, fruits, and grains that are both nutritious and suitable for the local climate. This will include staple foods like maize, beans, potatoes, as well as vegetables such as tomatoes, carrots, and leafy greens, along with fruit trees like bananas and mangoes.
Soil Improvement and Composting – 600 Euros
Fukuoka’s method emphasizes healthy soil as the foundation for growing crops. We will use part of the funds to buy composting materials, organic fertilizers, and soil conditioners to enrich the land and ensure it’s fertile enough for sustainable farming.
Water and Irrigation Systems – 1,000 Euros
A key aspect of farming in Africa is reliable access to water. This amount will be allocated to setting up a sustainable irrigation system, whether through drip irrigation or water-harvesting systems, to ensure the crops thrive even during dry periods.
Training and Education – 600 Euros
We will allocate funds for training the children and staff in sustainable farming techniques, including the principles of Fukuoka Natural Farming. This could involve bringing in experts or creating materials to educate the children about natural farming, self-sufficiency, and environmental sustainability.
Infrastructure and Farm Setup – 1,000 Euros
The funds will also be used to set up essential infrastructure such as hay, straw, manure, a small greenhouse (if necessary), and fencing to protect the crops. This will help ensure the farm is functional and secure, allowing for a sustainable food source for the children.
Contingency Fund – 600 Euros
A small portion of the funds will be reserved for any unforeseen expenses or to cover unexpected costs as the project develops. This will ensure that we can maintain flexibility and adapt to any challenges along the way.
