Natural Highs Iqaluit Kickstarter

Donation protected

It’s happening! After five years of dreaming about offering substance abuse prevention education to youth in Iqaluit, I am finally making the move home to support youth’s mental health through Acudetox clinics, brain chemistry education, body-mind experiments, creative alternatives to drugs and alcohol, and non-judgmental dialogue.

Natural Highs in Boulder, Colorado has been a huge support to this dream and is sending me home with enough supplies that will help me get Acu detox clinics and drop-in groups off the ground and running. But, funds to secure re-stock and project supplies will be essential in the upcoming months! We want to collaborate with you! If you are in a place to support this dream please know that the smallest of donations add up and that sharing this kickstarter means the world to me.  If you would like to learn more about myself and my vision for supporting youth in Iqaluit please check out my website https://karaashley.earth/

Thank you for being in my community!

About Kara:

Kara is a divinely curious individual whose life has been guided by the investigation of how to be in right relationship with the land, social equity, and personal well-being. Kara is passionate about facilitating the inherent connection between her fellow humans and the natural environment. She has spent a handful of seasons guiding sea kayak expeditions on the northern coast of British Columbia and is deeply impassioned around advocating for childcare programs that center emotional intelligence and nature connection.

Although Kara has been an outdoor educator for the past 5 years, her latest adventure has been an inward journey; the journey of sobriety. In 2018 Kara connected with the nonprofit organization Natural Highs - Health Alternatives to Drugs and Alcohol in Boulder, Colorado. Through their peer lead and non-judgemental substance abuse prevention program Kara was able to learn sustainable practices for working with challenging emotions during sobriety. She then began a Natural Highs internship and was mentored by the organization’s founder and director, Avani Dilger, who fully endorses Kara’s plan to bring the Natural Highs curriculum back to her hometown of Iqaluit Nunavut, in hopes of supporting Nunavummiut youth’s mental health.
