Support for victims of domestic violence and their children means everything.
These are stories that must be told, and we need your help to bring awareness to situations that need to be turned around for the sake of these children.
One feature story is about Prosper Ortega and the effort to reunite her and her little boy.
What happened?
He gouged her eyes so she could not see her baby & poured scalding liquid into her ears so she could not hear Ari cry. Prosper Ortega gave birth to their beautiful baby boy, but her husband Aaron Uchitel turned crazy, nearly killing her while holding her hostage and raping her for days.
What are we doing about it?
Prosper and her son are still enduring horrific injustices, being kept apart by people who took advantage of her when she was undergoing multiple surgeries after the attack by Uchitel. Prosper and her little boy need us now!
Please help us bring more awareness to this situation and support the mission to help mother and child recover from the brutal assaults and to overcome the tactics being used by the people who are keeping her and her son apart .
Our goal is to ensure that Prosper is able to raise her son herself and that they have support in recovering from the pain of separation and from the abuse happening during the legal battle to win back custody of her baby.
Another family we are supporting also involves a mother and child who are separated - and also because of domestic violence. Paige is a young disabled mother, in a wheelchair just like Prosper Ortega was when she was harmed as a mother. Paige and her daughter were abused by a former partner, but Paige was treated as the perpetrator instead of as the victim. She and Prosper also have this in common, that they have to defend against allegations designed to keep them and their young children separated. We are advocating for Paige to be released from jail and to have support while being reunified with her daughter, who is now in foster care. Paige needs a medical expert for court in March, she needs housing and also rehabilitative care so that she can get her legs in motion and hopefully be able to walk again. We need awareness, financial support and open doors and arms!
Thank you for your support of Navigating Justice as we bring awareness to what is happening to Prosper and to Paige. If you donate here on GoFundMe, the gift is not tax-deductible at this time. If you prefer to make a tax-deductible contribution, please send a message here .
