Navy Veteran Law School Tuition Assistance

Greetings!

My name is Jose David Acevedo, better know as Ace or JD.  I am a US Navy veteran who wants to become a Public Interest Attorney.

I come from a long line of proud service members who not only served the nation but also served their community as inspiring leaders.   From this lineage, I am the first one to go to college and follow to graduate school. 

I am currently in my first year of law school and having difficulties with paying tuition. I thought the GI BILL will cover law school but to my disappointment, the GI BILL ended last year. The GI BILL only lasts 36 months. Enough to cover your undergrad degree.  Now I am struggling to find the necessary funds to pay Law School tuition. 

This funding campaign is a formal appeal seeking help with the tuition fees so I can continue my law school education. I didn’t receive any financial aid from school and inquired about the school scholarships and grants available but sadly my GPA is not 3.55, which is the needed GPA to apply. Do not qualify for student loans either.

However, I will continue to apply for grants and scholarships as well as financial aid for next semester. I am requesting you to help me through this difficult time, so I don’t have to drop out of law school. I need your help with a grant, scholarship, or donation, anything helps. 

The reason I want to become an attorney is to fill a void where the lack of access to justice is an issue.  Here in Puerto Rico, The low-income communities are in dire need of public interest attorneys who are willing to give a hand and represent this important sector of society. This is where my heart is. Like my grandfather and father did in their time, I want to inspire others to join and work together towards a common goal. Having justice equality and social justice in low-income communities will be a positive step towards the betterment of society and the success of a united community.   Like Gandhi said " Be the change you want to see in the world"
