Nawal Al-Daour and her family in Gaza

Donation protected

Hello, my name is Nawal Al Daiur, and I am a Palestinian senior nurse with extensive experience in the Palestinian health sector. I dedicated many years to working at the UNRWA health services in Nassr neighborhood in Gaza City, also known as the Swedish Clinic, and previously worked at Makasid Hospital in East Jerusalem many years ago. During this war, I volunteered almost daily in Gaza's hospitals in the past months.

However, at nearly 60 years old, my health challenges, including chronic conditions like high blood pressure and diabetes, make it increasingly difficult for me to stand on my feet for extended periods. Witnessing the horrors firsthand in Gaza has also taken a toll on me emotionally. Compounding our difficulties, my young daughter was recently diagnosed with Hepatitis—a reflection of the dire sanitary conditions in Gaza, where over a million people live in densely populated areas.

Personal tragedies struck me both before and during the war—I lost my husband a few months before the war began, and my mother passed away just days after. Two months ago, I lost my brother, a medic, after being killed by an Israeli sniper. Now, I am solely responsible for providing for myself and my three children. The war forced me to flee Gaza City, and I now reside in Deir al-Balah after being detained for hours and then forcibly displaced by the Israeli military along with others from my neighborhood.

Despite these immense challenges, my commitment to Gaza remains unwavering. I have no intention of leaving it; instead, I am seeking opportunities to sustain my family and perhaps start a small project with my children. Your donations will first help us survive and then contribute towards rebuilding our home once we can return.

Before the war, we lived on ourselves, with no need from anyone and peacefully in our own home, which was tragically destroyed by Israeli forces. I hold onto hope for a future where justice and peace prevail, allowing everyone to return to their homes without further suffering.
