Support for the King Family
Many of you know my friends, Brian and Jennifer. But, for those of you who don’t, let me tell you their story. These two are some of the best friends you could have (I can attest to this given the number of times they’ve helped me move). They’ve been in each other’s corner for 16 years, married in 2010, and they have endured many ups and downs of this imperfect life, as a team. Early on, they grew their family with their four-legged furballs, Jovi & Bonnie. Then, after years of trying, they were finally blessed with their oldest daughter, Addy, in November 2019 and their newest addition, Abby, in October 2021. In the midst of their expanding family, Brian also accepted a wonderful opportunity in February 2020 as a subcontractor, then April 2021 as a full time employee to work at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, which was a godsend as it held such potential and financial security.
Unfortunately, in early December 2021, their lives were suddenly changed with one dreaded word, CANCER. Just as they were preparing to celebrate their oldest daughter’s 2nd birthday, Brian landed in the ER. While there, he was informed that a suspicious mass had been found and was subjected to numerous tests and biopsies. Ultimately, after an excruciating wait, Brian had a diagnosis - Stage 4B Colon Cancer. We were all stunned, in utter disbelief.
Brian is battling this disease like a champion; however, he and Jen's lives have been turned upside down and this journey can often times be very lonely. Brian is in the initial stages of treatment, undergoing Chemotherapy which is taking a toll on his mind, body, and spirit. And Jennifer is attempting to maintain as much normalcy as possible within their home for the girls. This is all so overwhelming and the King family needs support, financial and otherwise, especially with Brian currently off work. He’d only been at his new job for about 8 months and as a result, they could really use some help with medical bills, child care, home upkeep, and Respite care. Brian is working with Kaiser and City of Hope in Los Angeles to beat this cancer, but I’m asking that we come together and “work" to encourage this family with our words, prayers, and donations. Any amount you can donate to support this family through this tumultuous time will be appreciated. However, if anyone prefers to make a donation of time for Household help (cleaning, dinners, lawns) or Respite Care, please email me directly. Lastly, Brian and Jen have expressed a final, pressing need. Although they are extremely distraught to have come to this conclusion, their two senior, large breed dogs need to find new homes or at the least to foster. Jovi is an eleven year old rott/black lab mix, and Bonnie is a 13 year old black lab. The dogs would do best in separate homes. If you or someone you know may be of help with this, please reach out to me via email.
Please share this Go Fund Me account with your family, friends, and co-workers. If you prefer to contribute via VenMo, Jennifer has an account (@Jen-King-14). And, Thank you all for taking the time to read about my friends and their current trial. Your kindness and generosity is a blessing. Please know that all donations will be used in stewardship of Brian’s restored health, being cancer-free, and living his best life with his family, as soon as possible.
