School Laptop To Finish Degree

Donation protected
I'm back in school finally working on finishing my degree in Wildlife Biology with a Minor in GIS.  Within my first week back I learned that my current 8 year old laptop just won't handle it.  I need a new one and I need help!

School is expensive as it is, and I've been blessed with state and federal grants because of my grades to pay for most of my tuition.
But, with all the transfer credits I brought in from different colleges over the last 8 years (I always tried to earn credits, wherever I was, whatever I was doing) my advisors were hit with a challenge to try to figure it out - this meant that amidst that challenge, I was never advised that I would need a different laptop for my courses - that I would need to request more student loans for this expense.

So here I am, weeks into my first semester back on campus, trying to figure out how to afford a new laptop with the specifications required for my future education/career.

This is hard for me to ask for as it feels like admitting I've failed.  But I know I haven't - for the last 8 years I've done incredible things: worked for a non-profit connecting children to nature, volunteered with numerous conservation projects, hosted and produced a podcast about the people and culture of Minnesota, and undertaken being a team member for the Mountain Caribou Initiative as associate producer for our film, first nations liaison and wildlife tracker for our research, and contributing author for the soon to be published book.

It was during this last project that I learned that in order to pursue my love as a career, I needed to finish my degree.

If you know me well, you also know about the allergy to the sun I developed in response to a rare tick-bite I got a few years ago. This allergy has been devastating in a lot of ways - tick diseases are not covered by insurance, so any treatment I've received has been out of pocket.  The Irony of wanting to work outside and having a sun allergy is not lost on me! But my hope is that my story can inspire people to feel like there are no obstacles they can't overcome - but it takes support :)

So here I am!  I'm not expecting to have the full expense of this laptop covered by this go-fund me, and it's a small part in a large, ongoing expense I've undertaken as a college student, but it's a start, and I'm putting myself out there and hoping for a little help :)
Every little bit helps.

It's my hope to purchase a laptop that will not only handle everything I throw at it while in school for the next 2 years, but beyond that,  during my career or possibly to Grad school.

The laptop I'm trying to purchase is a Dell XPS 15'', 16GB RAM, 256 SSD, 8th gen i7 intel core processor.  Priced around $1,500
