Retire our "No Big Box" Legal Debt
Donation protected
UPDATE: Just short of goal on July 1 - but only $500 left to raise to pay off our debts - drop deadline to contribute is July 21. Thanks!
On April 19, 2016, Gastonia City Council voted 7-0 to deny rezoning for a Big Box commercial development in the woods south of Franklin Boulevard across from Franklin Square. For eleven months, neighbors in Gardner Park, Gardner Woods, Sedgefield, and New Hope Acres - and friends across the city and region - have lobbied for "No Big Box in Franklin Woods." We have incurred legal fees of $6687.50 in this effort, and have collected and paid out $4375 ($1300 paid by individuals prior to organizing a donors account). We need your help to retire our remaining legal debt. Eric Elliott is the Spokesperson for the GSNH Neighbors group, and Larry Alexander and Earl Holt are the group's Treasurers. We hope to retire the debt by July 1. All monies collected go to attorney fees, no overhead other than the fees charged by gofundme. A complete accounting of funds raised and spent will be available to any donor at the end of the campaign. Preserving those woods is important for flood control, lessened traffic, and a better quality of life for the whole community. Thanks for your help!
