Wheelchair Van & Medical Equipment

Hi, 

My name is Duane Larsen I had got into a car accident November 22, 2007.  That's the day everything I knew and everything I did/do from that day has changed. Prior to my accident I had nice things was headed in a good direction. I had a great job in the construction field and was great at what I did I just got a new car and was saviving up money to start my owe Construction company up. But that all stop the day of my accident. Since then I have had so many struggles and will continue to have many more as I accept that. My biggest hold back in my life since my accident is trasportation. I Currently live in Stevens Point Wisconsin all of my family lives at least 20 plus miles away. I'm trying to save up enough money to move closer to my family and caregivers to make my life more productive more meaningful and not only for me but my 9 year old on Adrin. Another reason I started the GoFundMe is for medical equipment. I'm a quadriplegic so finding work that's accessible and fits my physical needs is hard. I'm currently on SSDI of $1,048.00 per month to pay all my bills and to live on. So I really don't have the option to save money, when I can save money it's for the plane tickets to fly my son from Rhode Island to be with me in Wisconsin which is around $800 per summer... I don't get help from anyone I try so hard to do this on my own but after 7 years of trying and getting no where I'm to to point where I need to let pride go and ask for help. If I can rais enough money I could get the medical equipment and a van and pay secuity deposite and first months rent whith will all help  me get healthier stronger and more independent enhance the quality of my life.

I have come so far all on my own and with the help of my care givers. Now it's time for me to find happiness again... And that means living closer to family friends my Careworkers to have transportation and to have the equipment that would help me get stronger and more independent. I'm not asking for hand outs but I'm asking for help! If you are able to donate it would be greatly appreciated and all donations would go to making my sons and my life more open more independent more meaningful. The money will give me and my son a new home closer to family and friends transportation and beifite me mentally and physically.

Anyone thst knows or is physically disabled to my extent understand that life is not as easy as it is being able body. For instance for me to get a personal ride to go to a family members home for anything it cost me $80 to board the company van 50.5 cents per mile and $8.75 per hour for drivers pay one way. So to for my son and I to go see our closes family 29.9 miles away a 34 min drive ther and back without the driver's pay comes to $309.80 thats w/o paying the driver's hourly rate that's 1 visit. With the purchase of a van it would cost me $30 in gas cost to have a social life again.

Another Instance when my 9 Year Old wants to go to a park or family we have to time everything and he is the one that suffers Because we have to KEEP an eye out on my battery on my wheelchair because I have to drive my wheelchair where ever we go due to not having legit transportaion.

This wouldn't just benifit me and my son this would have a ripple effect on many people in a positive way!
