Zhuanxu’s Transition Fund

Dear friends,

I am writing to ask for your help and support in raising funds for my transition. My name is Zhuanxu, a Chinese trans woman currently living in the UK and pursuing my PhD in Humanities. The process of accessing gender-affirming treatments, such as hormone replacement therapy (HRT), is long and arduous. I am compelled to eschew the NHS GIC waiting list and turn to private provision. As you may know, transitioning is a long and expensive process, and unfortunately, I am facing significant financial barriers in accessing the care and support I need.

As a PhD student, I live on a tight budget, and I simply cannot afford the costs of HRT, laser hair removal, and other transition-related expenses. These costs can quickly add up, and without your help, I may not be able to access the care that I need to be in a physical presence that I feel comfortable with. Transitioning is a profoundly personal and meaningful journey, and I am determined to see it through. I believe that every trans person deserves to live as their comforting self, and I am asking for your support in helping me to achieve that goal. Your donations will go towards covering the costs of psychiatric examination (this is, sadly, the process I have to go through in my chosen private pathway), endocrinology consultation, HRT prescription, gender-affirming surgeries, and other related expenses.

I recognise that many of us are having a horrendous time in the face of inflation and the rising cost of living. I, however, unfortunately, and reluctantly, have to resort to the community's help. If you are able to donate, your support will be greatly appreciated. And if you cannot donate at this time, I would be grateful if you could share my campaign with your friends and family to help spread the word.
