Welcome!
While watching the unraveling of COVID-19 unfold, we realized that we wanted to do something to make a difference in El Paso. It seemed overwhelming, as there was so many that needed help, and not a whole lot we could do alone. But one of the things we noticed was how severely locally owned restaurants in El Paso were scaling down and struggling. These restaurant owners have supported our schools and organizations with donations for years. We wanted to figure out a way we could give back to them for a change. At the same time, we kept thinking about all the medical professionals who were working longer hours, being exposed to COVID-19 (along with many other ailments due to higher traffic in hospitals/clinics). These medical heroes are working under taxing conditions with no time to care for themselves. We wanted to figure out a way to let them know how much we appreciate all they do every day to help our community and help nourish their bodies.
We had heard about other cities doing similar charities, so we got straight to work. What better way to help both the local restaurants and show appreciation to the medical crews around the city than to pair the two!
OUR COMMUNITY MISSION
Our mission as a community is to raise the required funding to feed healthcare workers a nutritious lunch for as long as this crisis lasts. We are launching with the goal of feeding hospital workers in ICU and ER units in the hospitals in El Paso, and we’d like to cover the hundreds of dedicated medical workers expected to be on the COVID-19 front line.
Every meal will be supplied by a local restaurant, also working to keep their businesses operational. The restaurants we partner with will be delivering meals and/or snacks to these amazing people.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
For the amount of a morning Starbucks run, a working lunch, or a family dinner out which we are no longer doing; supporting our Front Line workers is a way to meaningfully give back in this time of need and crisis. It is an opportunity to practice and show what it means to be a member of a community, and how coming together is the only way we can all get through this with more compassion and humanity.
Please donate any amount – we know many families are suffering economically and any amount is meaningful as every dollar counts!
The strength and endurance of our healthcare heroes is needed now more than ever, and we plan to meet their needs with a heightened urgency. The sustainability of our local restaurants is vital to our community.
