NCS x Open Door Centre Swindon
The Open Door Centre is a non-government funded charity that makes a positive difference in the lives of adults with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and/or mental health issues. Their aim is to enable all members to achieve their highest potential. They encourage members to be independent adults and to understand their rights and choices in order to become confident and valued members of society.
The Open Door Centre is led by the members themselves, running a stimulating and varied activity programme including events such as:
walking and fitness, singing dancing and martial arts, swimming tennis and pilates, pool and bingo, mindfulness, visiting speakers, day trips and holidays, person centred plans and preparing for work.
Us at NCS, recognise along with the Open Door Centre that adults with learning disabilities have the same needs as everyone: to learn, to do meaningful and fulfilling work and to socialise with a wide range of people. All people deserve deserve happiness and good health no matter the difficulties they face in life. We are raising money for the open door centre by doing a 7 hour sponsored walk.
Unfortunately, as a result of Covid-19, this incredible charity lost a substantial amount of money. This greatly impacted their ability to open their doors to members and take them on trips.
The Open Door Centre would really appreciate your donations as it is their only source of money as a non-government funded charity.
Please donate what you can. Every penny counts.
