A late April tradition, the annual Penn Relay Carnival is now in its 121st year, making it the world’s first and most widely recognized relay meet, held annually at the University of Pennsylvania. The goal of the Penn Relays is a simple one- to provide the best track and field competition for the greatest number of participants of all levels, ages, and abilities.
Six male track members have qualified from Hoboken Junior Senior High while the girls have until the third week in March to qualify, they hope to join them. The last time the team qualified was in 2012 so it is a tremendous honor for the team to be invited back to participate, represent Hoboken and to be scouted by colleges and universities throughout the country.
And that brings me to why I started this page. The team needs to raise additional funds to help cover the cost of the Hotel, meals( for 3 days and 2 nights) and hopefully souvenirs for the students. The coach has set a goal of $2000 and has other planned fundraising activities for the students to run to help defray the costs but I thought we could help too!!
